BEHIND THE ARTIST
Hi, my name Ronja Gwynedd Breuk, I am a Dutch acrobatic tightwire artist. I graduated in 2017 from Codarts Circus Arts in The Netherlands, which specialises in acrobatics and is known for its world renowned dance education. Since 2015 I have been traveling around the globe performing in international companies, traveling circuses, and festivals, among which Cirkus Cirkör, Centre Europeén de Funambulisme, and The Royal Danish Theater. Most often I am being booked for my specialised solo acts where I make original sculptural high wire installations, tightrope acts and glass bottle balancing.
The philosophy behind my performance centers around the thought that circus is a heart to heart experience that brings people together. It’s making contact with each other, myself and the audience. Circus brings wonder back in people's hearts. With my eye for beauty, I direct the eye of my onlookers and remind them of the wonder. One of my favourite quotes is of the famous high wire walker Philippe Petit. I believe that movement is the language of the soul. With our shapes we can etch a calligraphy
“The essential thing is to etch movements in the sky, movements so still they leave no trace. The essential thing is simplicity. / That is why the long path to perfection is horizontal.”
― Philippe Petit
